Prom Dress Sale Helps Illinois Girls Hit the Dance Floor

Participants could bring their gently used formal gowns to be sold, and purchase their own to take for a spin around the dance floor. Since it started the sale has raised over $1,800 dollars, and organizers say it's a great way to make sure every girl feels like a princess on the big day.

Since it started the sale has raised over $1,800 dollars, and organizers say it's a great way to make sure every girl feels like a princess on the big day.

"Everyone loves it, they can come in here look for their dream dress and get it at a reasonable cost," said organizer Tabitha York. "This year the weather wasn't so cooperative with us, but we were still able to bring in around 300 dresses."

All of the funds raised at the event will go toward a scholarship fund.

That money will be awarded to one girl who participated in the prom dress sale.
