New Business Opportunities for Daviess County

Alliance Barrier Films held their formal opening to welcome the new operation to the community. They manufacture high quality plastic products.
Indiana has established itself as an advanced manufacturing leader.

In Washington, a formal opening was held of a new facility, which will soon bring close to 70 jobs to Daviess County.

Alliance Barrier Films manufactures high quality, and cost effective films for many every day products.

Community leaders call it a major milestone for the company to be in Daviess County.

The new 25 million dollar building is expected to make Daviess County more attractive to business. It also brings more jobs to the area, and helps Washington economically.

Washington Mayor Joe Wellman said, "Everywhere from the county, to economic development, to the banking institutions, to the manufacture of the equipment, it's just been a wonderful experience getting everyone together."

They've brought in state of the art equipment, which will include new multi-layer film lines, that will be used to create a variety of plastic products. The first phase will bring in 48 jobs.

Tom Huff, the President of Alliance Barrier Films said, "As we grow we'll add a second line in bay number two, third line will go in bay number three, and the fourth line will go down there in bay number four."

Officials hope the location on the I-69 interchange, will prove that the I-69 access has short and long term development potential.

"It's a clean industry, it's the industry of the future and what I think this represents is a company that will be here in Washington, Indiana for many years to come," said Huff.

Mayor Joe Wellman says it takes the vision of someone like Tom Huff and his team to see the opportunities in Daviess County.

"I know he looked at a lot of communities, and a lot of other options. So, we're just glad he decided to be in Washington, Indiana and Daviess County," said Wellman.

The city is not only investing in the new business, but investing in the future technology that alliance barrier films will offer.

"It's a statement to how much business likes Washington, and Washington likes business," said Wellman.

Some of the products that you may use that alliance barrier films creates are plastic medical, automotive, and frozen food packaging.

The Daviess County economic development has discussed plans for a 40 to 70 thousand square foot "shell" building, which they hope will attract additional manufacturing operations to the city of Washington.
