Meryl Streep is becoming an honorary Hoosier.

Indiana University says they're giving the academy award-winning actress an honorary doctoral degree.

Streep will be in Bloomington on April 16 for the ceremony. She'll also be a part of a lecture that day that's free and open to the public.

Tickets go on sale via the IU Auditorium box office on March 3 and there's a limit of four tickets a person.

Streep already has ties to Indiana. Her husband grew up in the Indianapolis area and went to Ben Davis High School. He's a sculptor whose work is featured throughout the state, including on IU's campuses.
