Derek Harlan is facing charges for resisting arrest and criminal recklessness.

The Vigo County Sheriff's Department says a deputy tried to pull Harlan over for speeding Monday, but he kept on driving.

It started along Third and Oak Streets and ended near the intersection of Third and Chestnut when Harlan got out of his car and surrendered.

He told police he thought he was wanted and was trying to get arrested. There were no warrants for his arrest. He told deputies he was a transient, but they say his last known address was in Staunton.

He's in the Vigo County Jail.
