An organization that looks to improve the lives of women in recovery, is now in construction to improve the look of their home.

The Luke House in Sullivan County is remodeling their facility, in hopes for a new beginning for the volunteers and people recovering from addiction.

Surrounding communities are coming together to help re-build the Luke House, a home for women who need recovery support. On Thursday, crews were putting up drywall.

Michael Irvine, who is the pastor at United Methodist Church said, "We all bring different talents to the group, we could build a house when we're all together."

With construction on its way, many businesses have donated money and time to be a part of this helpful project.

Jerry Meier, a volunteer in the renovation project stated, "Lowes has been here. Lowes has donated a full kitchen project, plus appliances. They just have a little bit more trim to put up and it will be finished."

Without the local volunteers from churches and businesses, the new and improved Luke House would not have been possible.

"This is part of our mission, to help do this kind of work. We've been to Henryville on three different trips. We're looking at doing things more locally and this is one of the projects we wanted to help with," said Irvine.

Once the house is complete, volunteers are hoping the all new women's facility will bring the support and recovery needed to change lives.

"They are here to find a job, to be more independent, and hopefully that the women can get their children back. Get a family unity back. That's what we're striving," stated Meier

Once complete, Luke House will be able to accommodate up to ten clients. They can hold meetings, get together with families, and other events for the women in recovery.
