Local senior center needs help after pipe leak

The Wabash Senior Center in Terre Haute is asking for some financial help after a pipe leak damaged its hardwood floor.

A local senior center is asking for some help after a pipe leak damaged its floors.

Josie Blame, the executive director of the Wabash Senior Center, says they're not sure when the pipe started to leak, but it got really bad over the holidays.

Blake says there was a leak in a steam pipe underneath the senior center's main floor.

Insurance will cover repairs to the hardwood but not the cost to fix the pipe, which comes to about $6,000. The center doesn't have the money to cover it.

"We've got a fundraiser coming up, but we hadn't really planned on using that for the floor, but we might have to. We're getting donations and we need community support," says Blake.

Donations can be sent to the facility at 300 S. Fifth St. or you can call 812-232-3245.
