ISU Summer Construction Projects Underway

This summer, ISU will continue to move forward with several upgrades to student housing around campus.
The fifty year old Sycamore Towers Complex is slated for a complete renovation.  Mills Hall will be the first of the four halls to be renovated.

"The central part of each of the floors will receive the most renovations in terms of bath facilities," ISU VP of Business Affairs, Diann McKee said. "We're also adding some study spaces and lounge spaces to each floor."

It's part of a five-year project to renovate each Sycamore Tower dorm. The Mills Hall renovations will cost approximately $20 million.

"All of the renovations for residential life projects are funded by the Housing and Dining system," added McKee.

Another construction project on the summer agenda is the completion of Reeve Hall. The new dorms will house the school's sororities and will be ready for the upcoming fall semester. The school conducted a study several years ago on ways to improve Greek life. Reeve Hall is a response to that study.

"What they felt that they needed to grow and to be successful here on campus, and housing was identified as one of those items."

Construction is just a few weeks away for the downtown Wabash project.  The school is teaming up with Thompson Thrift to construct new student housing that will also feature a mix of restaurants and retail stores.

Diann McKee says once the plans have been approved, Thompson Thrift will move forward with actual construction of the facility.

The Mills Hall renovation will be completed in fifteen months.

Blumberg Hall is next in line for renovations and the cost is expected to be $22 million.
