ISU Students Moving Out of Dorms

After exams are done, students cannot wait to pack up their vehicles and head home. But before they leave for summer--- they must make sure their dorm rooms are completely empty and clean.
The school year is finally over. All that stands between students and their summer is cleaning out their dorm rooms.

"I'm ready for summer. Ready to get back to the Hammond area," ISU Sophomore Corey Stewart said.

Many students can pack their belongings into one vehicle, which means mom and dad don't have to make a trip to Terre Haute.

"I like to take stress off my parents for having to drive three hours down here. So i like to be more independent so they don't have to worry about not only driving here three hours but driving back three hours also," added Stewart.

Some may not have their own car on campus, so parents must come help move them out. ISU Residential Life does their part by providing as much help as possible.

"We try to staff as much big blue laundry carts or hand dollies," Jessica Robinson, Assistant Director of Student Development at ISU, said. "Some parents bring them from home. We always highly encourage parents to do this so that way there's a lot of extra."

ISU Residential Life never has any trouble with students moving out after the deadline. They know how excited students are to head home for the summer.

"They're definitely looking forward to getting back and catching up with friend that were at other institutions or full time jobs. And they're definitely ready to spend some time with their family," said Robinson.

The only stress for students during move out is waiting for a cart or moving out when most of their floor mates are.

"I figured if I waited until 10 am, there wouldn't be a lot of people here but I was wrong. It didn't take too long to pack up though," Stewart said.

Students have until five o'clock tomorrow to move out of their dorms. But there is a little leeway. If they talk to officials, accommodations will be made.
