He was enjoying the slower pace of Richland County when he was called to serve his third tour of duty with the National Guard as a surgeon in Afghanistan. He spent last Christmas in the cold mountain desert there, keeping warm on broth and urging his co-workers back at Richland Memorial Hospital to keep care packages coming. The gummy bears were a big hit with his fellow Polish soldiers.
The Lawrenceville native is back in Olney doing relatively simple procedures compared to the complexities her faces with wounded soldiers and Afghan nationals.
