Hometown Hero - Mike Heshelman

Mike Heshelman Has Combined Service To His Country With Service To His Community. A Member of the National Guard, A Volunteer Fireman, A Reserve Deputy and Now a Regular One, He Has Made His Home a Better Place.

Our latest Hometown Hero is Mike Heshelman. The Daviess County native joined the Indiana Army National Guard while still in high school in 1981. He became a full-time soldier in 1984 and retired in 2005 as a Staff Sergaent.

Mike served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and after his retirement from the National Guard he enlisted in the Reserve Indiana Guard last year.

To serve his commuity, Mike has been a volunteer fireman at Plainville and, after a stint as a Reserve Deputy, now serves as a Daviess County Deputy.

He still finds time to volunteer his help in a variety of charitable events. He is married and enjoys his wife, Leslie, and sons, Garrett and Lane with a 3rd child on the way, set to be born in May.
