High Attendance at this Year's Covered Bridge Festival

The 54th annual Covered Bridge Festival has come to a close. Organizers say this year's 10-day long celebration did not disappoint. Thousands poured into Parke County to take in all of the community's history and see what local vendors had to offer. Those involved say each year the festival just keeps getting bigger and better.
The 54th annual Covered Bridge Festival has come to a close.

The largest festival in the state offers plenty of shopping, snacks and scenery.

Organizers say this year's 10-day long celebration did not disappoint.

Thousands poured into Parke County to take in all of the community's history and see what local vendors had to offer.

Those involved say each year the festival just keeps getting bigger and better.

"This year has been extraordinary. We are very pleased with the attendance. People have come here from all across the world and the United States to the festival, and emerged pleased. This is been a great year and everybody has gotten outside to enjoy the fall weather and the covered bridges," said Cathy Harkrider of the Parke County Tourism Board.

The Covered Bridge Festival will invade Parke County again next year on October 10 through the 19, and organizers say they are already planning the event.
