The Vigo County Health Department spent Friday at Rose Hulman. Vaccinations for the Mumps virus were given to students and staff.

We first learned about the case of Mumps on Tuesday. The State Department of Health is now confirming seven other possible cases in the area. This isn't just a problem concentrated in Indiana.

The Center for Disease Control says there are 25 cases of Mumps across the nation. The highest incidence is in Ohio, where there are six cases. That's where the strain found in the Rose Hulman student reportedly came from. It's believed the local student was exposed to the disease during a visit to the University of Dayton. Then, returned here and exposed the others at a party with ISU students.
