Father And Son Behind Bars For Fire In Vincennes

Police arrest Michael Mitchell and Michael Mitchell Jr., both of Vincennes, for arson. Police say they started the fire at Executive Storage Units on Old State Road 67 in Vincennes.

Police say a father and son were behind the storage building fire in Vincennes on Friday.

The fire happened at the Executive Storage Units on Old State Road 67.

A witness told police that they saw people fleeing the scene.

Knox County Sheriff Mike Morris and several deputies were able to track the suspects down near Westport in Lawrence County, Illinois.

They arrested Michael Mitchell and his son, Michael Mitchell Jr.

They also took a juvenile into custody.

Both Mitchells are being held in the Lawrence County Jail.

They face charges of arson, burglary, criminal mischief and criminal recklessness. The sheriff says the pair could end up facing more charges.

During the search, K-9 Captain Bryan Hicks suffered minor injuries, but he was treated and released from the hospital. A firefighter was also hurt, but received stitches to his hand and was released from the hospital.
