Jobs were a top priority at the Hamilton Center in Terre Haute on Monday.

The group hosted its first-ever job fair Monday afternoon, and dozens packed the place.

The Hamilton Center has more than 40 positions to fill; about 75-percent of them for Terre Haute, and the rest around the state.

Organizers say they're happy with the busy turnout, because it's a great way to get the community back to work.

"There's a lot of people that don't have jobs right now. And we're hoping right now that we can take some of those people and put them into positions. And into positions where they can grow with the organization," said human resources manager Corey Simmons. "We're going through this big growth phase right now, hiring lots of new people, and we really want to spread the word of what Hamilton center is doing out here in the community."

The Hamilton Center wants to make the job fair an annual event around this time every year.
