Disaster Preparedness Grants

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency hands out grants totaling more than $4 million.
Today the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) handed out $4 million to cities and counties around the state. The grants will support local disaster preparedness and response efforts.

The state hands out the grants on an annual basis and the funds can be used for day-to-day operations. IEMA Director Jonathon Monken released a statement saying "strong local emergency management programs are key components of public safety throughout Illinois."

The city of Chicago and Cook County received the largest grants. Several counties in our area will receive the following funds.

Crawford County           $6,099.55
Edgard County             $18,576.12
Jasper County              $7,366.69
Lawrence County          $18,217.11
Richland County            $7,498.40
