City Of Terre Haute Wants To Tackle Littering

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett hosted a Trash Talk Summit at the Vigo County Public Library on Tuesday. He and other officials spoke to the public about litter-related initiatives and policies, and listened to ideas on how to keep Terre Haute cleaner.
Tuesday is Earth Day and Terre Haute officials want to work with the community to make the city a cleaner place.

Mayor Duke Bennett hosted a Trash Talk Summit at the Vigo County Public Library.

He and other officials spoke to the public about litter-related initiatives and policies.

They also listened to new ideas from the public.

It's all part of a larger effort to make the city of Terre Haute more appealing.

"You have to tackle all these issues because if you just clean up the litter, that doesn't take care of infrastructure. So, when you're trying to sell Terre Haute to people, not to people who live here, but also outsiders, you've got to tackle on all fronts. We really think litter is an area that we want to spend some extra time on and definitely an increased effort for this year," says Mayor Bennett.

Bennett says the summit was unique because they don't usually focus solely on littering.
