Bicknell to Clean Up Burnt Properties

The city hopes to redevelop three buildings that were burned in a fire earlier this year.
One local city will soon be cleaning up property following a spring fire.

Three buildings in downtown Bicknell caught fire earlier this year.

One of the buildings belonged to the city, who have received an insurance settlement to redevelop the properties.

The Senior Citizen's Center and a State Farm office were also damaged by the fire.

City officials are working with them to tear down all three buildings using one contractor.

Bicknell Mayor Jon Flickinger would like to see demolition take place in the next couple of weeks.

"The hope is to get them down before Labor Day weekend and hopefully we can have some grass growing before then," added Mayor Flickinger. "But we've just got a couple weeks to go. It's just a case of time."

The city does intend to build back onto the property following demolition.
