Battle of the Bands: Terre Haute South High School

The Braves and the Patriots are both practicing hard for their marching band seasons, and both bands want to leave big impressions on the football field.
After visiting Terre Haute North, we stopped by South to visit the Braves.

Having the game on their home turf has this band so excited.

They're ready to show off all of their hard work.

Their theme this year may be about being incognito and undercover spy's, but don't expect their music to go unnoticed once the game begins.

The Terre Haute South band is prepared to make a statement.

Tim Murphy, Terre Haute South Band Director said, "We strive for excellence and we try to have fun with the kids we do a lot of competition, but we also do a lot to support the community."

It's the first year the Braves will host the rivalry game on their home field.

Band members and the color guard are hoping to exceed expectations.

Nicole Murphy, with the color guard said, "It's a lot of pressure, they're excited they're nervous it's just a big bundle of everything."

Working as a team is what allows them to succeed, and it's not just about the music at South.

"Our biggest focus is on being a family," said Tim Murphy.

Each minute of the game counts, and the band will be ready no matter the turn out.

"I just really hope everyone has a good time weather you're rooting for North or for South," said Nicole Murphy.
