Students in the Barr-Reeve Community School Corporation head back to class next week.

And right now the teachers and administration aren't on the same page.

This is a very serious dispute.

One that's prompted legal action by the Barr-Reeve classroom teachers association.

The group has filed an unfair labor practice suit against the board of trustees of the school corporation.

A representative for the teachers association explained the suit stems from the discovery of $20,000 difference in pay in two teachers with the same education and experience.

The association also has issues with the district replacing teachers with certified teaching assistants in special subject areas, like music, without first consulting them.

The district denies these accusations saying that it attempted to discuss and to bargain the issues necessary in accordance with the law.

The suit was filed at the end of June.

NBC 2 asked the representative for the teacher's association what she hoped to get in return, she explained that she wanted the teachers and administration to return to having a productive working relationship.

Also, the association wants to make sure that it has a voice when teachers are hired in at higher-than-average-salary.

Neither party involved wanted to speak to us on-camera.
