Coworkers are standing up for a correctional employee facing disciplinary action for an inmate's escape this past summer.
According to WTYE radio the Illinois Department of Corrections says Jared Carter was able to walk away from a work detail at the Robinson Correctional Center in August because of a lack of supervision. He was found a few days later.
The radio station reports that several people stood outside of the center this morning to support the worker facing blame.
They disagree with the DOC's assessment and say reduced staffing and administrative failures are responsible for Carter's escape.
