A local church braved the cold and brought a biblical story back to life on Sunday night.

The Union Christian Church in Terre Haute held the 21st annual outdoor nativity.

Members of the congregation played the roles of Mary, Joseph and the Three Wise Men.

With multiple showing throughout the weekend, the reenactment was free and open to the public.

Organizers say that the event is not only fun for those involved, but a great way to spread some Christmas spirit.

"This is just really enjoy to be a part of. People are able to come, and it's a family experience. We get out cookies to everyone that comes and enjoys the program and you just really get to see the story of Jesus, and it's awesome to be a part of," said minister Joel Lauritzen.

Each show was 20 minutes long, and keeping with the nativity theme, guests could watch the show while sitting on bales of hay.
