The Affordable Care Act.
It's one of the most controversial and significant healthcare changes since Medicare, and there are a lot of questions about it, such as 'Can I keep my current doctor ... and who determines what care I get?'
Tabnie Dozier has some answers.
Millions of Americans will be browsing around, shopping for new healthcare insruance.
Officials say affordable healthcare options are like a retail store-with plans that can be tailored for an individual's style.
"The way it works is you get into the marketplace exchange, you put your information into there and it'll list different insurances you can pick from so you would want to pick one your doctor is in network with."
Realtor Jane Crowley will be trying on new healthcare --hoping it fits like a glove.
"I've been with my doctors for a long time."
"It's kind of like now, if you change insurance, if you went out to find an insurance company you would just want to make sure that you had one that you're doctor accepted."
While you're shopping for coverage, there are four levels to the Affordable Healthcare Act ... bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Say you choose bronze, your insurance company will pay 60% of your cost, you're left with 40%. Choose the silver level, you're responsible for 30% and 70% goes to your insurance. Go with gold, 80% is for the insurance company, you pick up 20% of the tab. Pick platinum and up to 90% is covered by your insurance and you're left with ten. The higher the level--the higher your premium--but the less you pay out of pocket.
Crowley is also concerned about care.
"The deductibles, I've got a few very minor pre-existing things, how's that going to be covered, maximum out of pocket expenses, I know what I've got now, I don't know what I'll have in the next couple of months."
"It's up to you and your doctor, and of course the insurance company, you can check with them to see what qualifies you for different services."
Make sure you shop early so you can try on different plans.
Officials say getting in touch with your physician will be a great source as you browse the market.
