Sycamores Bank In Road Win at Loyola

CHICAGO - Indiana State and Loyola was bound to be a battle down to the wire as the two programs own the two best non-conference road wins of the season for the MVC. The game lived up to the hype and it was the Sycamores who walked out of Gentile Arena with a thrilling 61-57 victory over Loyola.

The Sycamores snapped a two-game skid in the Windy City to improve to 7-8, 2-1 MVC while Loyola fell to 11-4, 1-2 MVC. Indiana State picked up a road win at Big Ten foe Indiana to open the season while Loyola owns a road win at then No. 5 nationally-ranked Florida.

Senior Brenton Scott provided the heroics with a key late-game banked in jumper and led the Sycamores with 16 points. Brandon Murphy went into double figures scoring for the second consecutive game while Jordan Barnes added 10. Scott led the team with nine rebounds. Indiana State dominated in the paint 36-18 and converted 17 Loyola turnovers into 17 points.

The key stat of the game was that the Sycamore defense allowed no Loyola field goal for the last 7:31 of the game despite the fact that Loyola hit nearly 50 percent of their shots from the field after the break.
