ISU Women 2nd, Men 3rd In MVC Track

Terre Haute, IN - Indiana State's women finished second and the men took third overall in the MVC Track & Field Championships on Sunday.  Northern Iowa took the top spot for the men beating out Illinois State who was second.  On the women’s side, Illinois State stood atop the podium while Southern Illinois and Indiana State tied for second.

Individually Brittany Neeley won the 800 meters and the 1500 meters.  She just edged out Brooke Moore in the 1500.  Taylor Austin, fresh off a victory in the 3000 meter steeplechase won the 5K for the first time.  She beat out Lindsey Brewis and Emma Hatch of Loyola in a time of 17:12.22.

Tristan Parmley blazed his way to the 100 meter dash title. He beat Illinois State’s Anderson Devonish with a time of 10.34 to Devonish’s 10.37 for the MVC championship. The title moves him  into 43rd in the NCAA East Regional. Jarel Shaw was seventh at 10.76.

Akis Medrano finished 3rd in the men’s 5K with a time of 14:58.71.  Also freshman Dearis Herron leaped to a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.85 (48-08.75).
