Senior guard Anna Munn has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced by the league on Tuesday. Munn joins senior guard Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir and sophomore guard Kasey Johnson as MVC Scholar-Athlete selections, as selected in a vote by league sports information directors. Munn, who carries a 3.8 GPA in exercise science at Indiana State, becomes the sixth player to earn the honor in program history, joining Kourtney Mennen (2003), Laura Rudolphi (2007), Mel Boeglin (2006) and Kelsey Luna (2009, 2010) to be named Scholar-Athlete MVP. The six honors are the most of any school since the award began in 2002. The Indianapolis, Ind. native is also a first-team selection for the second-consecutive season. She is a three-time Scholar-Athlete pick, having earned second team honors as a sophomore. In her senior season, Munn ranks second with 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. She leads the league in free throw percentage with a .889 and second in 3-pointers made (53, 2.0). She also comes in 10th in assists (72, 2.8), eighth in minutes played (857, 33.0) and 14th in scoring. The Indianapolis, Ind. native scored a season-high 24 points versus then nationally-ranked LSU on Dec. 3 and pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds twice, including a double-double effort against Missouri State on Jan. 25. She currently ranks 14th all-time with 1,265 career points as she scored her 1,000th point this season against Marshall on Nov. 24. Senior guard Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir was named to the second-team while sophomore guard Kasey Johnson earned a spot on the honorable mention team. UNI landed four across the three scholar athlete teams, while ISU and Bradley each had three.
