TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Pitching controled the majority of the game as both teams battled through 12 innings before the Sycamores fell by a final score of 2-1 to the Bulldogs of Drake University Sunday in the series finale and home finale for the Sycamores in the 2014 season.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning they led off the game with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.

Pitching controled for both teams then took over as neither team could push any runs across until the bottom of the 6th inning when junior Megan Stone tied the game on with her fifth home run of the season to center field to make it 1-1.

The Bulldogs threatened in the top of the 7th and ninth, getting runners to third base but junior Yvette Alvarez pitched out of it as both teams were scoreless heading to the top of the 12th inning.

With one out in the top of the 12th inning, the Bulldogs retook the lead with a solo home run to left field to make it 2-1.

In the bottom of the 12th, the Sycamores could not answer as they fell by a final score of 2-1 in 12 innings.

Alvarez pitched 9.1 scoreless innings in relief for the Sycamores with nine strikeouts. Senior Morgan Allee finished the game 3-4 with a stolen base while Wilson was 2-4.

The Sycamores will wrap up their regular season next weekend in Carbondale, Ill. against the Salukis of Southern Illinois.
