Indiana State scored a Memorial Stadium record 70 points as they opened their home season with a 70-7 victory over the Quincy Hawks in front of 7,002 fans. Perish and Robert Tonyan were a combined 27 of 34 in the game for 433 yards and five touchdowns. The 433 yards is a new school single game record. Indiana State also had 671 yards of total offense which was just shy of the 675 accumulated by the 1975 team against Dayton.
