Two Semi Crash On I-70 E.B.

Vigo County, IN - On Friday afternoon at 3:07 P.M. Indiana State Police and Terre Haute Fire/Rescue responded to a two semi crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near the 6 mile-marker on the Wabash River Bridge.

The crash entrapped and severely injured one driver and seriously injured a co-driver.

Preliminary investigation revealed that traffic was slow and nearly stopped, when a 2016 Volvo tractor pulling a box trailer, driven by 24 year-old Nick Dismuke of Michigan, failed to stop. The Volvo tractor then struck the rear of a box trailer being pulled by a 2007 Kenworth tractor driven by Alexandru Pistin, 51, of Brownstown Michigan.

The impact entrapped Dismuke for nearly one hour.

Nick Dismuke was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of internal injuries, fractures, and lacerations.

His injuries are serious.

Dismuke was driving for Century Trucking of Michigan.

The co-driver with Dismuke, was identified as 42 year-old Joshua J. Fry of Jackson, Michigan. Fry was transported by Terre Haute Fire/EMS to Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Fry is being treated for internal injuries, an arm fracture, and lacerations. His injuries are serious.

Alexandru Pistin was not injured. He was driving for RSP Express of Michigan.

Traffic was re-routed onto National Avenue through West Terre Haute to US 41 south of I-70. Two other minor crashes occurred during the re-route.

All lanes were opened at approximately 6:53 P.M.

The crash was investigated by ISP Detective Michael Featherling. Assisting were numerous troopers from the Putnamville Post, ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Terre Haute Fire/Rescue (command staff, and companies from stations 2,6,8 and 9), Lifeline Air Medical, Lambert's Towing and Recovery and Absolute Towing and Recovery.

All lanes are now open in the area.
