Terre Haute - As weather starts getting nicer, we start to see the colors of spring.
Which here in Indiana, includes those orange barrels.
Orange cones and signs already line State Road 163 and U.S. 41 between Lyford and Rockville.
"We are going to have a resurfacing project that will start, you won't see lane restrictions until the week of the 19th. This project also includes a stretch of 63 that we will be resurfacing this summer as well," says INDOT Communications Director Debbie Calder.
That project is expected to run until June, and later in the summer U.S. 41 will also see more repaving work from I-70 to State Road 63.
However, this project expected to cause a few delays.
"That project opens for bids in early April. Once awarded the contractor will get started and that work will be completed at night so it will minimize the impact on the travel public," says Calder.
Crews also expect a few delays on 46 where the bridge in Bowling Green will be replaced.
"We are building a new bridge to go over the Eel River. That will not impact traffic. We are building the bridge on a southern alignment to the current bridge so traffic will remain on 46."
And while road work can be frustrating, it's all necessary.
"I know everybody kind of growls at us once in a while but we are out here to make their drive and commutes safer," says Calder.
S.R. 163 and U.S. 41 will see come closures later in the year as crews will change the Lyford Y to a T intersection.
I-70, for what seems like the first time in a long time, isn't expected to require a lot of work.
