Problems with Police Pension Still High

Terre Haute, IN - Two former police chiefs are worried about the police pension fund.

Thursday, they voiced their concerns to the Terre Haute City Council after hearing about a potential deficit in the pension fund.

The council listened as the former chiefs spoke on behalf of other pensioners.

Mayor Duke Bennett reassured those on edge about the situation that everything is under control.

"Now I think the ordinance spells it our very clearly that this money is supposed to be used for pensioneers to pay them their benefits," says past THPD Chief of Police, Ray Watts. "Not for hospitalization not for all the other things."

"We've got the exact figures," says Mayor Duke Bennett. "And that's all been audited by the State Board of Accounts so we know those are accurate figures."
