There are some happy animals at the Terre Haute Humane Society Friday.

Thanks to community donations the shelter now has more than $5,000 to help cover day-to-day operations.

NBC 2 along with Mix FM set up shop at Meadows Shopping Center for our 8th Annual Telethon. We mixed things up this year with a new location and a a drive up donation site.

The biggest donation of the day came from the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Indiana State University who pledged $1,000.

"We just want to do our part. Every fraternity or sorority--all Greek life--really does their part and donates somewhere and we really wanted to make our mark as well, and we're really proud we can do it here and really have a great effort behind us with the humane society,” says Brandon Blair, SAE philanthropy chair.

It costs the shelter $10 a day to care for an animal and all of the money raised today will help with those expenses.
