The oldest city in the state, Vincennes.
May hold another unique distinction.
This one involving the price of its parking tickets.

Three-dollars for a parking ticket.

That's unheard almost everywhere, except Vincennes.
Officials there believe that just may be the cheapest ticket-price in the entire state.

That could soon change.
The city Council is looking into a proposal that would raise the cost by more than 700%.
A ticket would go from $3.00-$25.00.
Parking illegally in a handicapped spot would cost you $50.00.
It's been decades since the parking ticket prices in Vincennes have been changed.
Police chief Dusty Luking says currently the tickets aren't serving as a deterrent.

"The ticket didn't have a lot of teeth behind it to where people were seeing much consequence for that ticket being at three dollars," Luking said.

The city council will review the proposal at its next meeting, that's scheduled for August 11.

At that time the ordinance could be passed.
