Tuesday afternoon he took the same walk he did back in 1987 after being found guilty of murdering his second wife, Mindy.
Now, he's being charged with the murder of his first wife.
"This morning, deputies armed with an arrest warrant located 62-year old Earl Taylor at the public library where he was taken into custody and charged with the murder of his then wife, Kathy Dean Taylor," explained Greg Ewing, Vigo County Sherriff.
In 1975, Kathy was found dead in a bathtub with a radio alarm clock in the tub.
Shortly before her death, police say Taylor took out thousands of dollars worth of life insurance policies on Kathy without her knowledge.
Detective Tom Roberts, who served on the 1975 case, says he was frustrated back then as to why charges weren't filed.
"At the time we didn't know why charges were not filed," said Thomas. "Thank goodness today they have been filed. Perhaps justice being served."
Vigo County investigators say the work done back in 1975 helped lay the groundwork for Tuesday's arrest of Taylor.
"We wouldn't have been this far if it wasn't for the base that was set in 1975," added Detective John Moats of the Vigo County Sheriff's Department. "With Detective Tom Roberts, the base that he did or set for us. I saw his crime scene drawing and it's amazing. You can just sit there and picture yourself being there."
Sheriff Ewing says the most important part about re-opening cold cases is to help bring closure to families who lost loved ones much like Kathy's mother.
"That is one thing that we never lose sight of," added That's why we're determined to go case by case and review these cases to try and bring closure and absolutely bring justice to those families."
This is the second time Vigo County investigators worked with TNT's "Cold Justice" to solve a cold case.
This January, they arrested Clinton Mackey for the 1998 murder of Erika Case.
