A proposal to rezone a property on North Clinton Street to make way for a Dollar General location has been denied by commissioners.
To allow opening of a Dollar General the property would have to be rezoned from residential to commercial. The commissioner's decision comes after nearby neighbors raised concerns of traffic flow.
Commissioner President Judith Anderson said, "I mean it was not at an intersection type setting where we didn't have to worry about the safety of the traffic and the people coming in and out and those type things so it was not just a personal vendetta against Dollar General. It actually was a study of the whole area."
Another rezoning decision came down during Monday's meeting. The commissioners have also denied rezoning for "Range Time" gun range on State Road 159 in Lewis, the range was incorrectly zoned years back.
Neighbors in the area have since complained about noise.
