Rockville Coach Bob Kyle was hoping his youthful team would step up to the semi-state challenge.

And he would love the start offensively, the Rox bust out to an early lead, Cameron Helderman with a perfectly placed basehit, Craig Overpeck was on second, he comes in to score, part of a 4-run outburst by Rockville.

That lead, would stick, thanks to the pitching of Dalton Laney, and thanks to the defensive behind him, which includes this incredible "over the shoulder" running catch in centerfield by Tyler Rapp. That came when Washington Township was threatening and it put their threat to rest.

The Rox have only 3 seniors, and they are now officially one win away from a state championship. There's the final out celebration. The Rox win the semi-state, 5-1 the final score. Sports Director Jason Pensky was in Kokomo and has more.

<<"Jason Pensky: Thanks Cody good evening folks you might remember two years ago the Rox were in the basketball state finals. Of all teams, they faced Loogootee. Now 2 years later their back in the state finals, this time in baseball, and they will once again be facing a team from the wabash valley.

Dalton Laney: It hasnt hit me really man to be honest. Its a great feeling. That's a tough thing for that team over their. Their a great team, today was just our day.

Bob Kyle: That was a pretty good pitching performance wouldnt you say, for a semistate. We did a great job, fielded well, hit the ball hard in the second inning. And that is a really good pitcher we beat over there.

Tyler Rapp: It's awesome. Hopefully we can win again next week. at Victory Field.

Jason Pensky: So the Rox are excited to be in the state finals next week at Victory Field in Indianapolis. In Kokomo with the Rox, Im Jason Pensky reporting.">>
