A group of Rose-Hulamn students put their books down today and picked up guitars, drum sticks, and a microphone.

They were rocking out for a good cause.
This was the third year for the "Rock out for Ryland" battle of the bands.
Money raised from the event goes directly to the Juvenile Diabetees Foundation.
The event's name-sake is the young son of the school's associate dean of student affairs.
He's batteled diabetes since he was just four and a half years old.
Organizers hopes the event brings him some extra happiness.

"I get emotional when I talk about it, because it really is a huge impact a lot of people deal with a lot of different problems but Type 1 diabetes is something we never even had heard of to have the support of our students and faculty coming out to this event to support it, it really means a ton," Erik Hayes, Ryland's father said.
