The Next Step Foundation held a Passover fundraiser on Friday at its Terre Haute church-turned-coffee shop.
Passover is a biblical celebration of freedom for the Israelites and Friday's dinner at Next Step celebrated freedom from addiction.
The group provides transitional housing for recovering addicts in the Wabash Valley.
Friday's dinner was a way to celebrate residents' successes and to thank the community for its support.
"It's wonderful to see people that recover. We hear so much in the news about the methamphetamine and how we're number one in the United States for the meth lab busts, and we don't ever hear the other side of the story. We have people here who have changed their lives dramatically," says Dana Simons with the Next Step Foundation.
Residents served up a traditional Jewish meal thanks to sponsors like Dorsett Automotive and Baesler's Market.
