A day meant to honor World War I veterans is now used to honor first responders and courthouse workers in Sullivan.

We're talking about National Donut Day.

The Salvation Army delivered donuts to workers at the Sullivan County courthouse, police stations and the ambulance barn.

Donuts are a tradition at the Salvation Army.

American Salvation Army lassies went to France during World War I and made donuts for the soldiers in order to provide them a little comfort.

The Salvation Army now uses donuts to say thank you to those who protect the community.

Baesler's Market donated all of the donuts for the event.
