A long standing tradition continues Saturday in Indianapolis. It's the 500 Festival Mini Marathon and about 300 runners from the Terre Haute area will be participating.

That's thanks, in part, to the Trained In Terre Haute program.

Local runners get together and start working out in January to get ready for the half marathon.

Nearly 40,000 runners will participate in the event, but you don't have to be a veteran runner to take part. Runners of all ages and experience participate in the festivities. Some even walk the race.

Jonathan Peets is a member of Trained In Terre Haute and he says having the support can really help.

The mini marathon starts Saturday in downtown Indianapolis at 7:45 A.M.
