Hoosier Lottery will pay more than $250 million in surplus revenue for fiscal year 2014. That amount is 12 percent higher than the previous year.

GTECH, a private company, oversees sales, marketing and other operations for Hoosier Lottery. If GTECH does not meet agreed upon income goals, the company makes up the difference. This year, GTECH will fund a $1.6 million shortfall.

The state uses lottery revenue to support the Build Indiana Fund. In addition, each fiscal year the lottery contributes $30 million to police and firefighters pensions, plus another $30 million to the Teachers' Retirement Fund.
