Cities, Counties and States alike are seeing the effects of the harsh winter. They're looking into buying salt supply for this year and finding they're having to order way more than anticipated.

Salt supplies are depleted across state lines, and there's been a hike in prices. It's a game of supply and demand, and the demand is high.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, salt supply is priced at about 100 dollars per ton, that's compared to last year's 60 dollars a ton.

Illinois is seeing the same thing. Clark County Engineer Dallas Richardson says they're paying about 104 dollars a ton.
