Local health officials want to make sure everyone has access to flu shots, whether you can afford it or not.

The Vigo County Health Department is teaming up with Walgreens to host a free flu shot clinic Tuesday for people who can't otherwise afford the vaccine.

It'll be at the Lighthouse Mission from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic is free for people with Medicare Part B or Medicaid. The vaccine is also available for full price for anyone else.

The flu has killed 11 Hoosiers so far this season and only one of those deaths was someone older than 65.

Flu season usually peaks during January and February. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it's not too late to get the flu shot.
