The round table, hosted by the Indiana Farm Bureau, was the first ever meeting between the two groups.
More than twenty local farmers came to discuss how the council will help work to help grow area agriculture and deal with the drought.
Council members say the meeting is a great way to help address the community's needs, and make themselves more available to residents.
"The farmers are a big part of the tax base questions about and they had a lot of questions about what's going to be not only Council directive, but Commissioner directed as far as dishes, roads, levies, things like that and we're hoping to be able to answer those questions for them," said council president Bill Thomas.
Council members say they hope to continue meeting with local farmers, another meeting has not yet been scheduled.
