Even with the month of July being the 3rd coolest ever in the Wabash Valley, Backyard Leisure in Terre Haute says their pool sales have remained fairly steady to years past.
"Above ground pools are more affected by the weather," said Josh Michels, Backyard Leisure's Sales Manager. "Super hot weather will normally increase sales yes. And we saw that a couple years ago when we had that long, hot, dry summer. But this year, it seems that even though it's been a little bit cooler, it's been pretty normal."
On the other hand, Hoosier Heating & Cooling saw a dip in one part of their business.
They respond to emergency calls to fix air conditioners. But this summer, not many people are calling.
"We've had very little in the way of after hours calls," said owner Brian Keilly. "The summer and the weekends and late evenings are much more typical and we haven't seen that at all."
But while Keilly has seen a decrease in emergency calls, he's seen an increase in another area.
"This year, we've done quite a few more complete system replacements," Keilly added. "Actually a lot of business from the past winter."
Backyard Leisure is seeing a lot of interest in one of their other services as well.
Michels says the cool summer inspired many customers to opt for a different backyard addition.
"I've had at least one or two customers say that they have been considering buying a pool, but with the weather they decided to do a hot tub instead."
