Heroin Seized in Traffic Stop

Street Value of One Million Dollars

Vandalia, IL - A traffic stop in Illinois nets a large shipment of heroin.  The Illinois State Police seized the heroin on Sunday morning along interstate 70.

A Dodge Caravan driven by a California man was stopped east of Vandalia for speeding.  In the vehicle troopers discovered six pounds of heroin with a street value of nearly one million dollars.

The driver, Juan Contreras-Ibarra, 37, of Garden Grove, CA, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Controlled Substance Trafficking and warned for speeding.  He was taken to the Fayette County Jail.
