Fire Rescuer Honored

FARMERSBURG, IN - Today In Farmersburg, one man is honored for his work battling flames.

Thunderbird Fire Rescue volunteer Kenneth Miller put in 50 years with the fire department. Today he received a gold card for his lifestyle of serving.

Representative Bruce Borders showed up along with a grateful community. Miller says he followed in his father's footsteps who didn't retire until his mid-70s. Miller is still on the active roster and responds to fires.

"I just enjoy it, it's soemthing, almost like, you know, peoples hobbies, you get started in it and you just don't want to quit," Miller said.

Miller says one of the biggest differences he's noticed on the job over the years are the changes in safety and protection fire fighters use today.
