Sullivan, IN - A local fire department just received some new equipment to keep the community safe.
The Hamilton Township Board of Trustees bought this brand new fire truck for the Sullivan Fire Department.
It cost $300,000 and the money came from the cumulative fire fund.
The Sullivan Fire Department now has three trucks and this new one is actually a pumper tanker, which means it can carry a lot more water.
"Usually we have just an engine tanker and it has 750 to 1,000 gallons of water. This is going to have 2,000 gallons of water," says Fire Chief Rob Robertson.
"We are very fortunate to be able to buy this for our township. We have safe equipment for our firefighters, our dedicated firefighters," says Connie Hollon, a trustee.
The Hamilton Township Board of Trustees actually voted to buy the new truck about a year ago, so they're very excited to be able to purchase it.
