Auto Skills Contest

Terre Haute, IN - Some local high school students put their brains and skills to work today.

It was all part of a special competition conducted by Ivy Tech's Automotive Program.

Area schools sent one junior and one senior to the competition. Along with a written test, the competitors demonstrated their knowledge under the hood.

Organizers say these teens are well on their way to a career.

"This is an industry that needs technicians, needs trained technicians, and this is their first step in getting that training."

Local dealerships provided some of the judges for the competition and here are the winners:

-Among Senior Competitors, Austin Fields, from Northview High took 1st

-In the Junior Division, Bentley Norton from Terre Haute North won.
