Technology Matters-Tech Tweaks

It was easy to miss, but Google Maps has a nice new feature, location sharing.
Open the side menu or tap the blue dot representing your location.
    Tap "share location," then share.
Google thinks this will be a more convenient way of letting people know where you are.

If you're furniture shopping, check this app from design platform Houzz.
You can virtually preview hundreds of thousands of furniture and decor products.  You'll see it in 3D.
You can use the app to buy or create a sketch to share.

I read an article on food prices dropping due to competition.  Max out those deals with coupons.  Try coupons-dot-com or red plum dot com.  Use the snipsnap app to organize your coupons.  And download Checkout 51 to get rebates for things you've already purchased.

If you're tired of talking to Alexa, the latest version of the smarthome device includes a touchscreen.  The seven-inch screen on the new Echo "Show" lets you browse, videochat or watch YouTube videos.
Like other Echo devices, you can command by voice.
Amazon plans an update to let users place voice calls and leave messages.
The Echo Show is available for pre-order and costs just under 230-bucks.

Snapchatters rejoice.  You don't have to miss a snap again.
You can now use an "infinity" feature to let friends view a photo for as long as they want.
    Previously, photos disappeared after viewing.
Snapchat also added a new magic eraser to "photoshop" items out of snap pics.  There's also a gif-like video looping feature and emoji doodle tool.
