Our latest Hometown Hero is Elias Donker who has called Sullivan County home. Now a captain and expected to be promoted to the rank of Major, Donker began his military career with the 101st Airborne Division. He has done 3 tours of duty in Iraq. He organized a youth center in Iraq. During his 2nd tour he was instrumental in "Operation Iron Triangle", a turning poing in the Iraq War. He was injured during that tour and, after 7 years, will be awarded the Purple Heart in a ceremony today at Camp Atterbury. He is currently a coordinator of hand-to-hand combat training there. The North Central graduate is a very deserving Hometown Hero.
